Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have windows that need to be covered. Where do I start?

If you are not sure where to begin, it might be helpful to visit our showroom. We can walk you through all the different options and help you to narrow things down. If you have a rough idea of your sizes and the type(s) of window treatments you would like, we can put together an estimate for you. We can also work with blueprints, window schedules, or window orders to put together pricing. If you know what you want and would like to have someone come to measure and bring fabric swatches, we can book you in for an in-home/on-site consultation.

Q: What kind of window covering should I get?

When shopping for window coverings it is important to think about the space you are working with, how it is used, and what you want to achieve. Are you just looking to add something decorative? Do you need to control light and to what extent? Is privacy an issue? What type of aesthetic are you drawn to? Clean and modern? Traditional? Fashion-forward? Are there certain colour palettes or textures you are drawn to? If you are not sure, our design team can help you find the best option for your space.

Q: What is required to proceed with an order?

Once your measurements and fabric selections are confirmed, all that is needed is a 50% deposit. If it is more convenient for you, this can be done via e-transfer, or over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard.

Q: How long does it take to receive an order from Calgary Custom Window Coverings?

Orders typically take around 4 weeks, give or take. Shipping lead times may vary which can affect the timeline for orders. Occasionally fabrics or parts are back ordered or discontinued which can influence the timing for orders. To avoid delays you may want to select a backup choice for fabric before placing your order. This will ensure you have a quick go-to option should your original selection be unavailable or delayed.

Q: Do you work with clients outside of Calgary?
We do! Beyond Calgary, we have worked with clients in Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, Canmore, Banff, Bragg Creek, De Winton, Red Deer, and Edmonton. We can also place orders to be picked up if you don’t require us to measure or install. We have even shipped orders internationally.
Q: How long have you been in business for?
We have been at this location, specializing in window treatments for over 6 years. In the past, we were part of Home Flooring and worked out of their showroom.

Q: What are the benefits of going with custom?

Custom window treatments will fit your windows perfectly, minimizing gaps of light, and ensuring nothing is too short, bulky, or ill-proportioned. Our measuring specialists can accurately measure everything you need and offer advice as to what will work well in your space. Our experienced installers will professionally install your order so you need not worry your house or business is damaged in the process of unloading and installing your window coverings. It is also much more efficient and safer to have a professional install your blinds and curtains.

Q: What is the warranty?
We offer what is referred to as the Limited Lifetime Warranty, which essentially means if the product is used as intended it will last you a lifetime. You have up to a year to report any defects in the fabric. Parts and mechanisms are covered for 5 years. Overall, should anything require attention just let us know and we will do our best to remedy it as soon as possible.
Q: Does it cost anything to have someone come to my home or business to measure?
In-home/on-site consultations are complimentary in the Calgary area. Outside of Calgary, there may be a fee depending on the range and whether or not you proceed with your order.
Q: How much do window coverings cost?
Cost varies depending on the type of window covering you choose, the fabric selected, the size(s) needed, how you would like to control it (manual, motorized, etc.), and how many you need.
Q: How much does installation cost?
Installation depends on what is being installed, how many, the location of the site, the location of the windows, and if drilling into concrete is required.
Q: Do you have blinds that can be top-down or bottom-up?

Yes! We have honeycomb blinds that can lower from the top as well as rise from the bottom. They are available in an assortment of colours and fabrics including semi-opaque and blackout.

Q: What is the best blackout option?

There is no 100% blackout option, however, blackout curtains can cover the full wall, extending floor to ceiling to maximize coverage. Cellular/honeycomb blinds are the best room darkening blind option, they extend as close to the edges of the window as possible, minimizing the light gaps on the sides. They also include a foil interior to reflect the light outward.

Q: Where do your blinds and curtains come from?
We carry an assortment of vendors including some options that are made in Canada, the US, and Turkey.
